Recorder
In 1816, the Office of County Recorder was the first local office created by the State of Indiana constitution. It is the primary duty of the County Recorder to record instruments submitted for recording and maintain those records for perpetuity.
The County Recorder processes and stores a range of documents, most being related to real estate, that are submitted for recording.
To allow staff time to balance accounts at the end of the day, all documents submitted for recording must be received prior to 4:00 p.m.
